Copy That
Voice dictation · Warp

Voice dictation for Warp.

Warp’s voice input sends your audio to a cloud transcription service. Copy That transcribes on your own Mac: press one button on your iPhone or Apple Watch, talk, and the prompt is pasted into Warp.

Warp’s built-in voice today

Warp has Voice input for its agent: click the microphone or hold Fn on macOS. Wispr Flow transcribes it in the cloud, so audio leaves your machine; Warp says the recording isn’t stored. You can’t pick the microphone (#10931), and macOS Dictation hasn’t worked properly in Warp since 2022 (#884).

As of October 2026.

Why Copy That with Warp
  • Audio never goes to a transcription service: Whisper runs on your Mac.
  • Talk from anywhere: the microphone is your iPhone or Apple Watch.
  • Works in any Warp input, and in every other app on your Mac.
  • Works the same with Claude Code, Codex or any agent you run inside Warp.
How it works
  1. Push.

One button on your Apple Watch or iPhone.

  2. Talk.

Say the prompt, anywhere, on any network.

  3. Paste.

Your Mac transcribes it and pastes it into Warp.

Questions
Does Copy That work with Warp?
Yes. Copy That pastes your transcribed words into whatever app is in front on your Mac, so it works with Warp with no plugin or setup inside Warp.
Does Warp have voice input?
Yes. Warp has voice input for its agent (mic button, or hold Fn on macOS), transcribed in the cloud by Wispr Flow.
Does macOS Dictation work in Warp?
Not reliably. An issue open since 2022 (#884) reports that macOS Dictation doesn’t work properly in Warp.
Do my iPhone and Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. Recordings go through your own private iCloud, so your phone can be on cellular in a café while your Mac is at home. The Mac just needs to be awake and online.
Where is my voice transcribed?
On your Mac, with Whisper. Audio passes through your own iCloud account and is never sent to a speech-to-text service.
What does it cost?
The iPhone and Mac apps are free. The Apple Watch app is a one-time $4.99. There is no subscription.
